Digits scupper debt management
People in the UK are finding it increasingly difficult to keep on top of their credit cards and debt management because they have so many pin codes to remember.
That is according to research from Abbey, which found that more than two million Britons have five or more security codes to remember, including at least two debit or credit card numbers.
Worryingly, 39 per cent of people (some 16 million cardholders) admit to jotting pin numbers down on a piece of paper, with 2.4 million storing the info in the same place as the card.
Debt consolidation combines various separate debts under one loan - something that would probably reduce the amount of digits to remember as well as monthly repayments.
"With many of us holding more and more pieces of plastic in our wallets the challenge of remembering all those pin codes is getting greater," said Steve Shore from Abbey. "But we really do urge you to try and commit them to memory rather than write them down."
Some 5.7 million people use one number across a variety of cards and accounts, the report said, putting their money and debt management efforts at risk should their wallet fall into the wrong hands.
